Bury Lodge: A Gothic Victorian gatehouse for holiday letting
Bury Lodge offers self catering accommodation 1 bed + sofa bed/sleeps 2/3.
It is a modestly Gothic listed Victorian gatehouse, set down a cul de sac, at the entrance to the Haddeo Woodlands and on the outskirts of the hamlet of Bury. It is a romantic and quiet setting. The river Haddeo runs through the wooded valley, below the house and separates the two sides of the hamlet, joined by a picturesque pack horse bridge and ford. The house itself is constructed out of cobb and lathe and plaster, has its original leaded windows and has been recently refurbished using high standards of conservation, including oak flooring sourced from the adjoining woods themselves. It has two bedrooms (one used as a study with sofa bed), a sitting room with woodburner', breakfast room with solid fuel rayburn, a fully-equipped kitchen suitable for self-catering and a bathroom. It has been furnished with early light fittings, and antiques of the period including Chesterfield sofa, early Victorian oak chairs and pine table, a dark Georgian oak corner cupboard, carved in the Victorian period, and a rosewood work table by the side of the king-size bed.
Fishing is available on the River Haddeo by private agreement with the owners of the estate.
Dogs and other pets are welcome. Horse livery available at adjoining farm. Off road horse riding available by arrangement.

The Ford at Bury.
